Dunfermline Abbey was originally a great Benedictine Abbey founded by Queen Margaret
in the 11th century. Robert the Bruce was buried in the Abbey choir. The remains of
the Royal Palace can be seen in the foreground. The Palace dates from the 16th century
when it was built for King James VI at the time when Dunfermline was the capital of
Scotland. On the left is the clock tower of the City Chambers.
