is one of the worlds great game reserves covering 1.9 million hectares with
2,400km of road system within the park. These modern equivalents of
the tradional mud hut are at Skukuza on the western edge of the park. This camp is the largest and
also acts as the administrative centre.

Kruger National Park - Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial |
| Description: |
Colonel James Stevenson-Hamilton was the first warden of the Sabie Game Reserve in 1902. He secured the park from
squatters and ensured the future of the animals and their environment. There is a memorial library in Skukuza and
this memorial at his burial place deep in the park. The Kruger National Park was formed in 1926 mainly due to his efforts from
a number of game reserves.
