Introduction to Fife
The Kingdom of Fife occupies the peninsula between Edinburgh and Dundee and has a character all of its own. From the historic capital of Scotland, Dunfermline, to the university town and home of golf, St Andrews, Fife towns are linked along the coast by charming fishing villages such as Crail in the East Neuk, shown right, and the beautifully conserved Culross in the west.
	Being almost surrounded by water has resulted in amazing feats of engineering being required to link Fife to the rest of Scotland. In the south, the famous Forth Bridge dominates the view, whilst to the north, bridges link Fife to Dundee over the Silvery Tay.
