Introduction to the Scottish Borders
The Scottish Borders have always lived on the edge, being the main boundary with England. Impressive
ruined Abbeys abound, such as the magnificent Jedburgh Abbey shown here, as well as friendly small
towns and the distinctive rolling hills and valleys.
The Borders may have its fair share of ruins but there are also key attractions such as the
splendid Edwardian House at Manderston, shown right, and other historic houses and gardens. The
coastline to the east is especially scenic and rugged.
