Description: The Scott Monument was opened in 1846 and takes pride of place in Princes Street Gardens. It is 200 ft high with 287 steps to the viewing level. To the left of the monument is the famous Jenners department store, opened 1838. Sir Walter Scott lived in Abbotsford House in the Borders and is buried in Dryburgh Abbey.
