Dunnottar Castle |
| Description: |
Dunnottar Castle, near Stonehaven, has one of the most impressive settings of any castle. Sitting
high on its own rocky 'island' it was used in the 1990 film 'Hamlet'. Its location also
saved the Scottish crown jewels when a small garrison held out against the might of Cromwell's army
for eight months. The castle is still privately owned.
