Pioneer Ship 'Hector'
Title: Pioneer Ship 'Hector'
Description: The small town of Pictou, Nova Scotia, is home to the 'Hector', a re-construction of the three-masted sailing ship that carried the early pioneers from Loch Broom in Scotland in 1773. Their arrival created the first major settlement of Scots in Canada. Nova Scotia itself was first linked to Scotland in 1621 when James IV granted the development of 'New Caledonia' to William Alexander of Menstrie.
